Fine art photography is my passion. Enjoying and developing the skills demanded by this medium, has enriched every other aspect of my life. I do sell my work in limited amounts. If you find a picture that you would like to hang on your wall, I would be honored to make a museum grade print, mounted and matted, and framed if you wish. Some of the pictures look best in smaller sizes. Some look best, and make a significant statement, in a large and extra large size ie 16x20 to 24x36. Depending on the composition, I print on exhibition grade photo paper, watercolor paper, and canvas. Prices range from $100 to $600 depending upon composition, size, stretched on canvas, and if you want it framed. Feel free to contact me to discuss which print(s) you have in mind. Thank you for visiting my website.

Steve Johnston, Artist Statement and Bio
I have had a passion for the medium of photography since I was in the 8th grade, when I received a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera for Christmas. That passion is expressed in my personal work. Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz have had a great influence on the way I see things. My training at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops has helped me express my vision of the world.

My work is included in private and in corporate collections. Also, my work has been shown or sold through the Nelson Gallery of Art in Kansas City, The Kansas City Artists’ Coalition Gallery, The Buttonwood ArtSpace in Kansas City, The Camera Obscura Gallery in Denver(Merit Award Winner), among others. I have been awarded Best of Show in the Kansas City Arts Commission Photography Competition.

I love your Thomas Hart Benton image, Steve. It reminds me of a Vermeer painting and I love Vermeer, who used a camera obscura, before the daguerreotype was even invented. The Plaza through the trees is, excellent contrast and composition, with an unusual point of view. Unique. The Penquin Court image has a quiet "feel." Intimate. Again, excellent contrast and composition, along with an emotional content and recognizable location/context. The Dale print is Awesome. Inspiring. Meditational. The Nelson Gallery in the Snow is a lovely image! Composition and contrast enhance the quality of this photograph. Just lovely! The Gazing Geese in Santa Fe is a symmetrical composition with interesting, minimal subject matter, making for a wonderful photograph! The High Road Cross has excellent lighting and color creating the "feel" of the High Road.

I totally enjoyed my visit through your " Out of the box" photography concept. From your California weathered branches to your European brick walkway .....Loved your KC snowy stone fence and bridge and the orange hue windmill and sunrise at the school in the Flint Hills....the colors of the Sante Fe summer storm were outstanding! We need more walls in our home.

You should be proud to leave such a creative legacy.
