Steve Johnston, Artist Statement and Bio
I have had a passion for the medium of photography since I was a teenager, when I received a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera for Christmas. That passion is expressed in my personal work. Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Georgia O'Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz have had a great influence on the way I see things. My training at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops has helped me express my vision of the world.

My work is included in private and in corporate collections.  I am a member of Images Art Gallery in Downtown Overland Park, Kansas.   Also, my work has been shown or sold through the Nelson Gallery of Art in Kansas City, The Kansas City Artists’ Coalition Gallery, The Buttonwood ArtSpace, and the Jones Gallery in Kansas City, The Camera Obscura Gallery in Denver(Merit Award Winner), among others. My work has been awarded Best of Show in the Kansas City Arts Commission Photography Competition.
